Contributing Guidelines Before you contribute to GD Resources, there are a few things you should know: How to setup GD Resources? Prerequisites <Link href="https://nodejs.org/en/download" Node.js ≥20.9.0</Link <Link href="https://git scm.com/install" Git</Link A computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux (you can use Termux if on Android but it's annoying) Initial setup <Steps <Step Clone the repository: </Step <Step Navigate to the new folder: </Step <Step Install all packages: </Step <Step Start the server </Step </Steps How do components work here? GD Resources is based on a docs template made by OmgRod called <Link href="https://miniwiki.omgrod.me/" MiniWiki</Link . To find out how components work and how to use them, read <Link href="https://miniwiki.omgrod.me/guides/components/index" here</Link . <Callout type="note" icon="book" We now have components docs which you may read <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/tree/main/codedocs/components" here</Link ! </Callout However, GD Resources also has a few new components that aren't present in MiniWiki, which will be listed below: <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/blob/main/codedocs/components/AuthorCard.md" AuthorCard</Link <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/blob/main/codedocs/components/AuthorList.md" AuthorList</Link <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/blob/main/codedocs/components/GuidesTable.md" GuidesTable</Link <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/blob/main/codedocs/components/interactive/InteractiveFlowchart.md" interactive/InteractiveFlowchart</Link <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/blob/main/codedocs/components/TwemojiProvider.md" TwemojiProvider</Link (not really a component) <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/blob/main/codedocs/components/YouTube.md" YouTube</Link <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/blob/main/codedocs/components/Link.md" Link</Link (literally just ) How to give yourself credit? <Steps <Step We use GitHub to host this website's code, so you should <Link href="https://github.com/signup" create an account</Link if you haven't yet. </Step <Step Add yourself as an author in , like this: </Step <Step If you are creating a new category/subcategory, ensure it contains at least the following files: 1. 2. </Step </Steps Category file templates You may add more rows by cloning the tag and pasting it below the closing tag. Sub categories are optional . If no sub categories are present, remove the two subtitles and the in between. Creating Guides You can create a guide using the following template: It is important that: 1. The guide title is the exact same in both fields. 2. You keep the description relatively short (1 2 sentences max). But keep it descriptive enough as this will appear in . 3. Your username is the exact same as the one you put in . 4. is ALWAYS TRUE! 5. must be a number. The higher the number, the further down it appears. It is completely optional and only recommended for subcategory guides. 6. must ALWAYS be , to enable page navigation at the bottom of the guide page. Also, whenever you create a guide, you must add it to , like this: In the JSON code above, there is an example for regular guides, and an example for subcategories (or a series of tutorials). Below are the rules for either of the guides: <TabPanels <Tab title="Regular Guides" 1. Always place new guides after the two default entries: Table of Contents Official Guides 2. Each guide must have a unique, readable title (avoid generic names like “Guide 1”). 3. Keep paths consistent with folder structure: 4. Do not create unnecessary nesting if the guide is standalone. 5. Use lowercase, hyphen separated file paths for consistency. 6. must ALWAYS be , to enable page navigation at the bottom of the guide page. </Tab <Tab title="Subcategories" 1. Subcategories are used for multi part tutorials or structured learning paths. 2. Each part must follow a strict naming format: 3. Ensure chapter order is explicit (1, 2, 3...) and never rely on alphabetical sorting. 4. All parts must live inside the same subcategory folder. 5. Avoid mixing standalone guides and series content inside the same subcategory. 6. The first part should clearly introduce the series and explain its purpose briefly. 7. must ALWAYS be , to enable page navigation at the bottom of the guide page. </Tab <Tab title="General Rules" 1. Keep titles short, descriptive, and consistent across sidebar and frontmatter. 2. Ensure every path matches an actual file broken links are not allowed. 3. Never duplicate entries in the sidebar. 4. If unsure where a guide belongs, default to a regular guide instead of creating a new subcategory. 5. Keep the sidebar clean prefer flat structure unless hierarchy is truly needed. 6. must ALWAYS be , to enable page navigation at the bottom of the guide page. </Tab </TabPanels Pushing your changes to GitHub Now that you finished writing your guide, you may push your changes to GitHub: <Steps <Step Commit your changes and push them once you're done: <Link href="https://code.visualstudio.com/Download" VS Code</Link is highly recommended for Git operations if you're new to Git. </Step <Step Once your changes have been pushed on GitHub, open the repository (should be in your account). Click the button that says "Contribute" and when opened, click "Open pull request". You should see something like shown below (this is on a different repository so this will look slightly different for you): <Image src="/assets/contribute.png" alt="A popup that shows up when clicking the 'contribute' button" / <Image src="/assets/pr.png" alt="The pull request creation screen" / </Step </Steps If you need any help, feel free to <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/issues/new?template=question.yml" ask a question</Link on GitHub or contact OmgRod in any of the links in the footer below!

Installing Geode on iOS This page will help you install Geode on your iDevice . Unlike other platforms, installing Geode on iOS is not straightforward because of Apple's strict policy of not directly allowing apps outside of the App Store. <Callout title="Warning" variant="caution" icon="TriangleAlert" Geode only works from iOS 14 to the latest iOS version . Geode will not work on iOS versions below iOS 14. </Callout <Callout title="Tip" variant="note" icon="Book" If you don't know the iOS version of your iDevice , follow this page from Apple to check your iOS version. </Callout <Table <THead <TR <TH Method</TH <TH Supported iOS</TH <TH Computer Required</TH <TH Mod Support</TH <TH Price</TH </TR </THead <TBody <TR <TH <Link href="https://github.com/geode sdk/ios launcher/blob/main/OLD IOS INSTALL.md" TrollStore / Jailbreak</Link </TH <TH iOS 14 17.0 (excluding 16.7.x+ & 17.0.x+)</TH <TH No </TH <TH Full (Native JIT)</TH <TH Free</TH </TR <TR <TH <Link href="https://github.com/geode sdk/ios launcher/blob/main/MODERN IOS INSTALL.md" SideStore</Link </TH <TH iOS 14+</TH <TH First time setup only</TH <TH Full (JIT) / Partial (JIT less)</TH <TH Free</TH </TR <TR <TH <Link href="https://github.com/geode sdk/ios launcher/blob/main/APPLE DEV CERT INSTALL GUIDE.md" Apple Developer Certificate</Link </TH <TH iOS 14+</TH <TH No </TH <TH Full (JIT) / Partial (JIT less)</TH <TH Paid</TH </TR <TR <TH <Link href="https://github.com/geode sdk/ios launcher/blob/main/ENTERPRISE INSTALL GUIDE.md" Free Certificates</Link </TH <TH iOS 14+</TH <TH No</TH <TH Partial</TH <TH Free</TH </TR <TR <TH <Link href="https://github.com/geode sdk/ios launcher/blob/main/LIVECONTAINER INSTALL GUIDE.md" LiveContainer</Link </TH <TH iOS 15+</TH <TH Yes </TH <TH Full (JIT) / Partial (JIT less)</TH <TH Free</TH </TR </TBody </Table In case you still do not know which installation method to use, look at the image below (starting on the white box) to see which guide you should use. (ending on the green box) ! <Callout title="Note" type="note" icon="book" The guides are accessible by clicking on the names of each guide on the table. TrollStore method also has an option to install a jailbreak tweak if you prefer to use Geode that way. Apple Developer Certificate method only requires a computer if you want to enable JIT. LiveContainer indirectly requires a computer as LiveContainer itself has to be sideloaded through SideStore </Callout Which Method is The Most Suitable For You? <Callout title="Note" type="note" icon="book" Methods that say "can go up to full support" mean the method provides partial mod support by default (JIT less) , but can be extended to full mod support (JIT) . Full mod support always requires a computer to set up . Don't worry, your favorite mods like CBF, Eclipse, Globed and more will work out of the box on partial mod support (JIT less) . Methods that support the latest iOS versions work on iOS 14 or above (iOS 14 being the minimum version for the Geode launcher). The exception is LiveContainer , which requires iOS 15 or above . </Callout Here's a comparison of all methods for you to see which method is the most suitable for you: TrollStore 🌟 If your device supports it, this is THE best option to install Geode 🌟 Pros Full mod support Easy to setup Works very reliably Cons Limited iOS version support (iOS 14 17.0, excluding 16.7.x+ and 17.0.x+) Might require a computer to set up (if on device options like using free certificates to install TrollStore do not work; iOS 17.0 requires a computer) SideStore 🚀 If you have a computer, don't want to pay for a certificate, and your device is on the latest iOS version, this is the best option to install Geode 🚀 Pros Can go up to full mod support Supports up to the latest version of iOS Works reliably Cons Has some limitation on the amount of apps you can install due to Apple's restrictions (3 active apps and 10 app ID) Requires a computer to set up Will expire in 7 days if you don't frequently refresh it Apple Developer Certificate 💲 If you can pay for a certificate and don't have a computer, this is the best option to install Geode 💲 Pros Can go up to full mod support Supports up to the latest version of iOS If you want to install apps other than Geode, this method does not have any app limits unlike SideStore Cons Apple developer certificates are paid Your certificate might get hit by Apple on a revoke wave, causing apps installed with it to crash Requires computer if you want full mod support (setting it up with partial mod support can be on device, no computer required) Free Certificates ❌ This is THE worst way to install Geode, and should be avoided unless absolutely necessary (such as not having a computer, not being able to pay for a certificate, or your device not supporting a great on device option like TrollStore) ❌ Pros Does not require a computer Supports up to the latest version of iOS Completely free to set up Cons Cannot go up to full mod support (JIT less only) Takes a lot of storage, atleast 400 MB (as it involves installing a patched version of Geometry Dash) Time consuming to set up and use (as it not only involves finding the right certificate to install Geode, but it also involves having to patch Geode everytime you install, update, enable or disable mods or update Geode itself) Works unreliably, can run into issues Geode might get revoked, causing it to crash when trying to open it Violates Apple's Terms of Service (as you're using a leaked certificate that was previously used by a company) LiveContainer 👍 If you have SideStore and don't want to waste an active app and app ID slot, this is the best way to install Geode 👍 Pros Can go up to full mod support Supports up to the latest version of iOS Completely free to set up Useful with SideStore, as it will let you preserve an active app and app ID slot Cons Requires a computer (as it's supposed to be used together with SideStore) Might require some extra setup

Installing Geode on iOS

Chapter 1: Custom Levels <Callout A lot of the code in the following tutorial comes from <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/GD Surge" GD Surge</Link by OmgRod (which parts of it come from other existing GD fangames like Lunar and Odyssey), so credit to the developers of these mods for writing this code! </Callout Prerequisites <Link href="https://geode sdk.org/mods/omgrod.rods fangame tools" Rod's Fangame Tools</Link (Geode mod) <Link href="https://docs.geode sdk.org/getting started/sdk" Geode SDK</Link A PC (mobile could work but it's really annoying) Permission to use certain songs (if applicable) A YouTube tutorial for this is coming very soon... 👀 Creating custom savefiles (CRITICAL) Before we even start messing with the GD main levels, we MUST create custom savefiles for the specific mod (to prevent getting leaderboard banned). To do this, we hook to ensure the savefile that is created/loaded has a slightly different name: How does GD get its main levels? GD gets its main level metadata from the <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/GD Surge/blob/master/src/modify/LevelTools.cpp L105 L229" </Link function and the actual level strings from the <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/GD Surge/blob/master/src/modify/LocalLevelManager.cpp L5 L14" </Link function. Okay, so now how do we replace the levels with our own ones? It's really simple! Geode allows you to <Link href="https://docs.geode sdk.org/tutorials/modify" hook</Link (modify) classes and functions. If we hook these two classes, we can change how vanilla GD gets its levels! But, before we do this, we need to find a way to get our levels in the game in the first place. Getting level strings Using <Link href="https://geode sdk.org/mods/omgrod.rods fangame tools" Rod's Fangame Tools</Link mod from Geode, we can extract any level string straight from the level editor. <Steps <Step Go to the mod's settings and ensure that the "Level Copy Type" setting is set to Encoded , and that the "Copy Level String" setting is enabled . </Step <Step Open your desired level. You should see a page that looks as shown below: <Image src="/assets/fangame/chap1 editor.png" alt="A page showing the level's info (with editor/play/share buttons in the middle) and an editable level name/description" / </Step <Step Click the button to the right of your screen. It should say "Copy Data". If a notification saying, "Encoded level copied to clipboard successfully!" appeared for you, this should've worked successfully! </Step </Steps Adding level data to resources Geode allows you to easily add resources (files along with your base mod) to your mod. To do so, add a new key to your as shown below: If you have another name for your resources folder, feel free to use that instead you are not limited to the path. Next, create a text file for each level inside your levels folder and paste the encoded level data into it. For example: The number in the file name corresponds directly to the level ID used in GD (e.g. Level 1). If negative level IDs are used (for custom or extended implementations), you can name files using the same pattern, such as . Registering the custom levels in GD Now that we have the custom level(s) in the mod's resources folder, we can start writing code to register the levels in GD. To do this, we will first hook to instead get the main level strings from our mod's resources: Although we have overwritten the level string, we must also limit the number of levels being displayed in the main levels page and display custom metadata for the levels. To do this, we will also hook : Adding custom artists (annoying but required) In your fangame, you will likely have completely different artists for your levels. With this, you will also need to find their socials (music video, Newgrounds, YouTube, and Facebook). But don't worry if you can't find any specific one, as you can just set the URL to empty ( ) and GD will not render that specific button. Adding the songs You may add the songs in your mod by updating the : Inside the music.zip should be every song in your mod (if you want to learn how to zip files, google it 😊). Now, you may be asking: "Why the HELL do we need to put a bunch of songs in a zip file??". And that's an excellent question! The reason why we do this is to save mod filesize since the Geode index has pretty small filesize limits (250Mb). Although 250Mb might not seem like a large amount, if you have enough songs and levels in your mod, you will easily exceed this limit. You can also try the online song download method but a full explanation for this in this tutorial would take a while to write. 😟 Unzipping the songs To unzip the songs, write the following code (straight from GD Surge): Making levels playable If you attempt to open a level in your mod's current state, it may say "Failed to load" when you open the level. To fix this, you need to hook again and ensure each time the game checks the level's integrity, it returns : Now, you should have a fully working custom level select screen (with fully custom levels) in GD. If you still need help, feel free to <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/issues/new?template=question.yml" ask a question</Link on GitHub!

Replace the current main levels with custom levels (and custom music)

Chapter 2: Adding Song Credits <Callout A lot of the code in the following tutorial comes from <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/GD Surge" GD Surge</Link by OmgRod (which parts of it come from other existing GD fangames like Lunar and Odyssey), so credit to the developers of these mods for writing this code! </Callout A YouTube tutorial for this is coming very soon... 👀 Adding artist links To give your artists credit (and, most importantly, to display the correct links) we once again hook the class. Changing the credits page To change the credits page ( ), we hook that class: Since there is no function in this class, we had to modify the function (which for now you can think of as being the same as except it returns ). Now, you should have fully working custom artist credits pages in GD. If you still need help, feel free to <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/gd resources/issues/new?template=question.yml" ask a question</Link on GitHub!

Chapter 3: Custom Achievements <Callout A lot of the code in the following tutorial comes from <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod/GD Surge" GD Surge</Link by OmgRod (which parts of it come from other existing GD fangames like Lunar and Odyssey), so credit to the developers of these mods for writing this code! </Callout A YouTube tutorial for this is coming very soon... 👀 Creating/Overriding Achievements Geometry Dash handles its achievements in the class. To create custom achievements, you may hook the following function: For each achievement, ensure you replace the following: with your achievement's name (try make it short and fun) with your level's name with the name of your fangame (alphanumeric only), e.g. with the icon you would like to unlock way to type this is below Icon Unlocks You can make your achievements award the user icons and colors. Below is a table that explains how icon names must be written: <Table <THead <TR <TH Type</TH <TH Code Name</TH <TH Example</TH <TH Notes</TH </TR </THead <TBody <TR <TH Cube</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Ship</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Ball</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH UFO</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH May also be called .</TH </TR <TR <TH Wave</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH May also be called .</TH </TR <TR <TH Robot</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Spider</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Swing(copter)</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Jetpack</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH i think its but i still need confirmation on that.</TH </TR <TR <TH Primary Color</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Secondary Color</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Death Effect</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Special</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH likely for misc stats like paths? im unsure</TH </TR <TR <TH Ship Streak</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH <TH likely for misc stats like paths</TH </TR </TBody </Table If these numbers pass 99, you may write them as , , ... and the game will still know what icon you want to unlock. Markdown Formatting in Geode We have a YouTube tutorial you may want to watch which may help you use these tags (and GD's default ones)! <YouTube videoId="rmvGedzp yc" title="part 7" / Geode includes several classes for rendering Markdown in Geometry Dash: These classes allow you to use most Markdown features. If you're new to Markdown or want a refresher, check out the <Link href="https://www.markdownguide.org/" Markdown Guide</Link . In addition to standard Markdown formatting, Geode also supports several custom tags and integrations. Standard GD Tags Geode Markdown classes allow you to also use RobTop's color tags , making your text much fancier. For a guide on how to use these color tags, read this <Link href="" guide</Link or watch the video above! Displaying Mods To display a mod neatly in Markdown (for example in ), use the following syntax: Replace with any valid mod ID. The mod will then be rendered as a row like this: <Image src="/assets/markdown modrow.png" alt="Example of a rendered mod row in about.md" / Linking Users To create a clickable link to a user's profile, use the following syntax: Replace: with the text you want displayed with the user's account ID <Alert type="info" title="Note:" This uses the user's account ID , not their user ID. </Alert You can find a user's account ID by: Viewing their profile on <Link href="https://gdbrowser.com" GDBrowser</Link Using the <Link href="https://geode sdk.org/mods/cvolton.betterinfo" BetterInfo</Link mod in game The link will look like this in Markdown: <Image src="/assets/markdown userinabout.png" alt="Example of a user link in about.md" / When clicked, it opens the user's profile popup: <Image src="/assets/markdown user.png" alt="Example of the in game user popup" / Linking Levels To create a clickable link to a level, use the following syntax: Replace: with the text you want displayed with the level ID <Alert type="info" title="Note:" This uses the level ID shown in Geometry Dash and on sites such as GDBrowser. </Alert You can find a level's ID by: Viewing the level in game Opening the level page on <Link href="https://gdbrowser.com" GDBrowser</Link The link will look like this in Markdown: <Image src="/assets/markdown lvlinabout.png" alt="Example of a level link in about.md" / When clicked, it opens the level popup: <Image src="/assets/markdown level.png" alt="Example of the in game level popup" / Hex Color Tags As you may know, Geometry Dash already has support in some places for color tags, but they are very limited in what colors you can have. Because of this, Geode now allows you to use hex color tags, which have the following syntax: You may replace with any of your own text, and with any hex code you want. Additionally, by combining these color tags, you can create cool gradients, like in BetterEdit's : In the , this text looks like this: <Image src="/assets/markdown betteredit.png" alt="BetterEdit text with a green gradient" / Supported Custom Tags <Table <THead <TR <TH Feature</TH <TH Syntax</TH <TH Example</TH </TR </THead <TBody <TR <TH Mod Display</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH User Link</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Level Link</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR <TR <TH Hex Color Tags</TH <TH </TH <TH </TH </TR </TBody </Table

Geode SDK: Table of Contents Geode is a Geometry Dash mod loader and modding SDK with a modern approach towards mod development. Unlike previous mod loaders, which merely inject the DLLs and let devs handle the rest, Geode aims to be a more comprehensive project, which manages loaded mods & hooks itself. Geode has been built to ensure performance, compatibility, portability and ease of use. For devs, Geode means easy development and portability; for end users, Geode means an uniform and easy experience using mods. UPDATE: I moved on from Geode due to it being a toxic/unprofessional community. Please take caution making mods for them because they have been known to steal other developer's mods (like they did with some of mine). <Link href="/geode/guides/index" View official guides here</Link Useful Resources <Table <THead <TR <TH Resource</TH <TH Developer</TH <TH Description</TH </TR </THead <TBody <TR <TH <Link href="https://docs.geode sdk.org" Geode Docs</Link </TH <TH <Link href="https://github.com/geode sdk" Geode Team</Link </TH <TH Official Geode documentation, written by Geode developers.</TH </TR <TR <TH <Link href="https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5S23FLspYDiZhNBZZnRk5C5qAc gjln " OmgRod's Geode Tutorials</Link </TH <TH <Link href="https://github.com/OmgRod" OmgRod</Link </TH <TH Unofficial Geode modding tutorials made by OmgRod (GD Resources owner).</TH </TR <TR <TH <Link href="https://api.geode sdk.org/swagger/" Geode Server API Docs</Link </TH <TH <Link href="https://github.com/geode sdk" Geode Team</Link </TH <TH Official Geode server documentation. Miscellaneous Lua Trigger has some features that couldn't be properly categorised in these docs, so I made a page for all sorts of useful, smaller features you may want to learn about. Easing Type Used in object manipulation, easing type is how you want something to navigate. In GD, there are 18 easing types (or 19 if you also count ): <Table <Caption Easing types</Caption <THead <TR <TH Name</TH <TH Enum Name (C++)</TH <TH Integer Value (Lua)</TH </TR </THead <TBody <TR <TD None</TD <TD </TD <TD 0</TD </TR <TR <TD Ease In Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 1</TD </TR <TR <TD Ease In</TD <TD </TD <TD 2</TD </TR <TR <TD Ease Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 3</TD </TR <TR <TD Elastic In Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 4</TD </TR <TR <TD Elastic In</TD <TD </TD <TD 5</TD </TR <TR <TD Elastic Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 6</TD </TR <TR <TD Bounce In Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 7</TD </TR <TR <TD Bounce In</TD <TD </TD <TD 8</TD </TR <TR <TD Bounce Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 9</TD </TR <TR <TD Exponential In Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 10</TD </TR <TR <TD Exponential In</TD <TD </TD <TD 11</TD </TR <TR <TD Exponential Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 12</TD </TR <TR <TD Sine In Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 13</TD </TR <TR <TD Sine In</TD <TD </TD <TD 14</TD </TR <TR <TD Sine Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 15</TD </TR <TR <TD Back In Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 16</TD </TR <TR <TD Back In</TD <TD </TD <TD 17</TD </TR <TR <TD Back Out</TD <TD </TD <TD 18</TD </TR </TBody </Table Easing Rate When using an Easing Type other than (0), the Easing Rate controls the intensity or acceleration curve of the easing animation. In Geometry Dash, the easing rate acts as a multiplier/exponent for the easing formula: Default Value: (Standard GD easing curve) Minimum Value: (Flattens the curve, making movement almost linear) Higher Values ( ): Makes the easing effect much more aggressive (e.g., faster acceleration at the start, sharper deceleration at the end). In functions like , is passed as the 6th parameter (optional, defaults to ):
